Glucosamine and chondroitin are structural components of cartilage, the tissue that cushions the joints. These compounds are naturally found in the body, but their production slows with age.
Glucosamine is needed to form and repair cartilage and other body tissues. Chondroitin sulfate helps give cartilage elasticity and may help reduce/prevent damage to the cartilage.
Methyl Sulfonyl Methane (MSM) is known to help relieve joint pain, reduce inflammation and boost immunity. MSM also may help strengthen the immune system and is beneficial for producing keratin, a main component of skin, hair, and nails. Combining MSM with glucosamine and chondroitin has been theorized to be more effective at decreasing joint pain and stiffness in periods with knee osteoarthritis than glucosamine and chondroitin alone.
